How does the Mavic 4 Pro's Return to Home (RTH) feature work?

How does the Mavic 4 Pro's Return to Home (RTH) feature work: The DJI Mavic 4 Pro's Return to Home feature is a safety system designed to automatically return the drone to a preset point, typically the home point recorded at the beginning of the flight. This feature is activated manually from the DJI Fly app or the remote controller, and can also be activated automatically in cases such as loss of signal from the controller or low battery. RTH uses precise GPS data and navigation algorithms to plot the most efficient and safe return route.
When RTH is activated, the drone first ascends to a user-defined altitude, allowing it to avoid obstacles such as trees, buildings, or poles. This altitude must be set before the flight to suit the surrounding conditions. Once the set altitude is reached, the drone plots a direct route back to the home point, maintaining a constant flight speed and using its sensors to avoid obstacles along the way if the option is enabled.
The system also assesses wind conditions, remaining battery power, and the distance to the home point in real time to ensure it can complete the flight safely. If the calculation indicates there isn't enough battery power to reach the destination, the drone will adjust its behavior and initiate an emergency landing closer to its current position. This minimizes the risk of free fall due to lack of power.
The RTH function is designed to provide peace of mind for the pilot and increase safety on long flights or in complex environments. However, it is recommended to always visually monitor the return and be prepared to take manual control if the planned route is jeopardized by obstacles or unforeseen conditions.
